On May 14th the board voted to hire an external, third-party investigation firm to thoroughly investigate the complaints related to the situation with previous leadership.

Amid changing stories, and conflicting information, the board sought the advice of outside experts who validated that we needed a clear and comprehensive investigation which would be trauma-informed, evidence-based, forensic, and objective.

We are committed to ensuring the thoroughness and integrity of the investigation and that everyone who needs to be heard has the opportunity. We appreciate your prayers and patience throughout what might be a lengthy process.

A Letter from Joel Manby and Jennifer Barnes

It is with a profound sadness we must share some difficult news: both Reggie Joiner, the founder of Orange, and our CEO Kristen Ivy have voluntarily resigned, effective immediately.

Reggie has admitted to past inappropriate adult relationships, which violated our company policy and eroded trust within our organization.

During the course of the Board’s investigation, Kristen also disclosed a past inappropriate relationship with Reggie. In light of this, Kristen has chosen to resign.

We have moved quickly to respond, and we are continuing to engage in a responsible and transparent process. As a result, Kristen and Reggie will not be part of next week’s conference.

In the interim, Mike Clear will step in as Acting President, leading Orange forward while the Board embarks on an extensive, nationwide search for a new CEO who embodies our mission and exhibits an unwavering dedication to our shared values. It was these values that led us as a Board to promptly launch an external investigation when the potential of inappropriate behavior was brought to our attention thirteen days ago.

While we do not have a definitive timeline for hiring a CEO, we assure you we are committed to moving forward thoughtfully and diligently, keeping in mind what is best for Orange, our partners, and – above all – our mission.

Now, more than ever, we believe it is important to gather for the Orange Conference next week, so we can be there for one another.

If you’re joining us, you can still expect a community of leaders, speakers, ministry partners, and people who share unshakable hope in the future and mission of the Church.

Again, we realize this is a lot to take in, but let us remain steadfast in our commitment to our shared mission. Thank you for everything you do, and for your ongoing support and understanding during this transition period.

Sincerely,
Joel Manby
